If you are in the research stage of planning a new website or considering switching your website platform, you’re in the right place! I’m going to tell you all about Showit and the exact reasons WHY I love it so much. I’ll also share who it’s best for and who should probably utilize a different platform (because as much as I love it, it’s not what’s best for every business)
I ended up switch from WordPress to Showit and after years of being a WordPress fan-girl and let me tell you, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my business!
Show it is a true drag-and-drop website design platform as well as a hosting platform (no paying a hosting provider separately). They began as a design platform for photographers but began branching out to all types of businesses because the platform is so customizable that it really does work for most businesses.
Here are my top 7 reasons I love Showit…
There is practically no limit to what you can design on Showit. This is one of my absolute favorite features because it allows me, as a web designer, to create completely unique websites for my clients. And it allows you as a business owner to stand out among the thousands of other websites out there!
Not only is there amazing ability to customize everything on your site, you can do it with zero code! Want to insert a picture and change it’s shape and size? Upload your picture and drag and drop it exactly where you want it on the page.
This has been a game-changer! Code can be so time consuming and frustrating. If you feel the same way about code or have no knowledge or desire to learn code, Showit may be your answer.
One of the most genius aspects of Showit is that it integrates with WordPress.
But wait a second, Tara! I thought you said you ditched WordPress?!
Yes. But only kind of. All of the design is done on Showit, both for your main website and your blog design. The actual blogging is done through WordPress and it all integrates together in a beautiful and cohesive way.
This is a big one, because in my opinion, 90% of businesses would benefit from a blog.
Most SEO experts will tell you that WordPress is best for SEO.
So, because Showit uses WordPress for blogging, you get all of the amazing benefits of WordPress SEO capabilities. Plus, the Showit platform has really simple ways to add in your SEO on each of your main (non-blog) website pages.
I’ve used multiple other platforms and I can say confidently that the learning curve with Showit is vastly less than anything else I’ve tried. It is very simple and very intuitive. This makes it so easy for me as a designer to hand off a website to a client and feel confident that they can keep up with it and make changes without screwing up the layout or functionality of the site.
Have you ever clicked through to website on your phone and it looks kind of weird or seems a little clunky to use? That’s because, commonly, the web designer starts with the desktop version and the mobile version “auto designs” based on your desktop version.
But, with almost 60% of website visitors using mobile it’s increasingly more important to design for mobile first.
Showit makes that super easy because their mobile design can be completely customized and look as similar or different to your desktop version as you’d like.
Lastly, Showit has amazing customer support as well as a Facebook group community that are always willing to help. If you’ve ever had a website before you know how important this is. When you get stuck on something, it’s best to have a solution quickly! Showit provides this with excellence!
OK, so now you know the main reasons why I love it. But before you jump to sign up, let’s make sure that it’s going to be a good fit for you. There’s nothing worse than spending time and money on something that you end up ditching.
Here are types of businesses that I’ve seen work really well with Showit:
I’ve got plenty of reasons to use Showit, but there are also reasons not to. Even though you can make Showit work for most things, if you or you’re business falls into one of the following categories there may be other platforms I’d recommend:
These lists are not exhaustive, so if you’re still questioning if Showit would be a good fit before you dive in, make sure you contact me and I’d be happy to help guide you towards the best fit.
